Art of Hair by Eric Style Guide for Curly Hair

Welcome to the first Art of Hair by Eric style guide.  In this guide, we are going to explore some of the newest cuts and products for the winter of 2021-2022.  Our focus will be on men’s curly hair cuts and how to style the cuts.

The cuts are divided into three sections:

  1. Short cuts

  2. Medium cuts, above the shoulder

  3. Long Cuts, below the shoulder

If you need ideas for your curly hair, then check out the cuts in this style guide.

(Note: These are sample cuts for demonstration purposes. These are not the work of Art of Hair by Eric )

Short Cuts

Faded sides with a long top

In this picture the sides are faded down to a 0.  This style still works even if the sides are a little longer and faded down to a 3. The style is super easy to maintain and it is very care- free. Some variations are below.

Longer sides faded down to a 3 or 4 with a long curly top that has been smoothed with a dry wax product. The top hair length is to the bottom of the eyes.

0 fade on the sides with a much shorter top.

This is a style that work for all curly hair types.

To maintain this look you need to use a curl moisturizer and maybe a product to provide some level of hold depending on your goals.

Medium Length Hair

This length is very care free and easy to maintain..

Medium Length

If you are looking for a really low maintenance look try a medium length curly hair look.

Medium length curly hair

The medium length cuts are scissor cut only. They also have a lot of layers. The primary product for maintaining this look is to use a leave in conditioner and a light hold product if you desire. The longer curl lengths can get frizzy if the hair becomes to dry. Products help to define the curl.

Long Curly Hair

These styles look care free. But they can require some work. The key is to have regular cuts to maintain the shape and to keep the hair moisturized.

Long curly hair

Very long curly hair.

The longer curly styles are also layered. These are also scissor cut only. The last picture also has some product applied to give a light hold. With the longer cuts, the weight of the curls holds the curls down.

Products

The key to maintaining this look is to use a light moisturizer like this product for Matrix. It leaves your curls smooth and defined and cuts down on the frizz. This product is made for curly hair and it is available at my shop.

If you need a light hold, try this product which is also by Matrix. You can use a little for a light hold or a litter more for a stronger hold. It is a product that is made just for you curly hair.

All of the cuts and products are available at the Art of Hair by Eric in Wall, NJ.
